Diana Brazzell is the Co-founder and Executive Editor of Footnote, an online media company that brings academic knowledge to a broader audience. She collaborates with institutions and scholars to translate their research into accessible, engaging, original content for mainstream readers. Brazzell graduated from Brown University with a degree in public policy and worked as a policy researcher at the Urban Institute.
Amanda Frayer
Graphic Designer
Amanda Frayer is Footnotes Graphic Designer, managing the Footnote website and creating graphics for clients that share academic research in vivid visual formats. She is the CEO and Lead Designer of Brookland Workshop, LLC, where she does a variety of design work for non-profits, small businesses, b-corps, and startups. Her projects include illustration, layout, websites, advertisements, art builds, and infographics. Amanda has a BA in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and an MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Michael Graw
Assistant Editor
Michael Graw is an Assistant Editor at Footnote, where he collaborates with academic researchers to increase the impact of their ideas and expertise by sharing them with a broader audience. Michael is a writer, editor, and multimedia producer specializing in research communication. In addition to his work with Footnote, he contributes to The Scientist and Smore, a science magazine for young people. He has also worked as a documentary photographer and filmmaker for research institutions including Oregon Sea Grant and the University of Delaware College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment. Michael holds a Ph.D. in Ocean Ecology and Biogeochemistry from Oregon State University.
Chris Hugill

Chris Hugill serves as a marketing and business development advisor for Footnote. He collaborates with Footnote’s leadership team on sales and marketing efforts, impact measurement, and strategic analysis and direction. In addition to his work at Footnote, Chris consults independently with a variety of clients across the higher education, scientific research, and healthcare ecosystems. He holds a BA in English from Reed College and an MBA with global management concentration from Babson College (magna cum laude).

Jamie Larson

Jamie Larson has worked as a reporter, editor and online content manager for multiple publications throughout New York. He was the state wide communications coordinator for the Albany based education nonprofit, Alliance for Quality Education and has also worked as a social media and marketing consultant.
Joe Morone

Joe Morone is the Co-founder & CEO of Footnote, a communications firm that increases the impact of academic research and expertise by sharing it with a broader audience. Joe partners with researchers and institutions to develop communication strategies for expanding the reach of their expertise through effective storytelling and media placement. He has collaborated on research communication campaigns at universities including ASU, Brown, Columbia, Harvard, Stanford, and USC, translating scholarship into influential content for media outlets such as The Boston Globe, Fortune, Harvard Business Review, The Washington Post, and Wired.
Joe also serves as the Co-founder and COO of One Nation Every Vote, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that shares the experiences and stories of American voters and the history of voting in the US to encourage all Americans to exercise their right to vote. In 2020, he co-founded Rally Capital, a diverse investment network aimed at driving social impact, profitability, and professional connection. Joe has a BA in Political Science from Brown University and an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College.
Sia Moua

Sia Moua serves as Footnotes Social Media Manager, developing and implementing strategies for expanding Footnotes presence and influence on key social platforms. She also supports Footnote partner institutions and researchers in using social media to increase the impact of their research and expertise. Sia has more than eight years of experience leading communication strategies in the private and nonprofit sectors. She is an AmeriCorps alumna and served in the Peace Corps in Mauritania working to advance girls’ education and empower women. Sia has a bachelor’s in International Studies and Communication from Denison University and a master’s in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University.

Jon Warman
Jon is an angel investor and Footnote advisor with a background in software engineering. He has experience at large consumer software companies like Amazon and Facebook, as well as small enterprise startups in productivity and finance. At Facebook, he worked on Pages, Profiles, Events, Notifications, and Ads as the product grew from 5 million to 500 million users and the team grew from 50 to 1,500 people. Jon was a co-founder of Footnote, as well as Jackalope, an online, on-demand task outsourcing service for businesses. Most recently, he was a software engineer and head of talent for Segovia, a payment platform for NGOs and global businesses operating in developing markets. Jon holds a B.S. in Computer Science and B.A. in Comparative Literature from Brown University.
Kristen Weiss
Research Communication Trainer
Dr. Kristen Weiss is a scientist turned science communicator who works with academics to increase the impact of their research. She is currently the Communications Coordinator for the Long Term Ecological Research network, and was previously an Early Career Fellow in Science Communication at Stanfords Center for Ocean Solutions. Kristen received her her Ph.D. from James Cook University in Queensland, Australia, where she studied marine governance using policy network analysis. Her goal is to continue communicating about significant environmental issues and contribute to better conservation and management strategies to protect our threatened ecosystems.
