Her research in machine learning, computational statistics, and data science develops methods for turning data into actionable knowledge in domains such as healthcare. She is a member of the Working Group on Explanation and the Law in the Ethics and Governance of Artificial Intelligence initiative at Harvard’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. Finale received her Ph.D. and M.S. in Computer Science from MIT. She was a Marshall Scholar at the University of Cambridge and was named one of IEEE’s “AI Top 10 to Watch” in 2013.
