William G. Jacoby is Editor of the American Journal of Political Science and Professor of Political Science at Michigan State University. He is the former Director of the Inter‑university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Program in Quantitative Methods of Social Research and former Editor of the Journal of Politics. Dr. Jacoby received his Ph.D. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before coming to MSU, he was on the faculty at the University of Missouri‑Columbia, the Ohio State University, and the University of South Carolina. Dr. Jacoby's research interests include mass political behavior (currently focusing on the effects of values on public opinion and vote choice) and quantitative methodology, especially scaling methods, measurement theory, and statistical graphics.
